Vultarax

The second model I have completed from scratch is the Vultarax which is another example for forge world knocking it out of the park in their model design, it is simply gorgeous looking, the curved surfaces suit the candy coat I am using perfectly and I love the end effect.

I spent quite a lot of time on the base for this model making use of the newish GW basing kit to add some character and adding a fair amount of weathering to it, this is one of the other things I have been doing with the majority of my models to bring them all together. While strictly not needed for the mechanicum I wanted continuity with the iron warriors and they needed more colour on their bases or they will end up looking simply too bland so rusting was needed - I think it looks OK.

So a lovely model to work with and fortunately the rules for it on the battlefield are utterly amazing and I am seriously considering getting a couple more to round out the force, lots of BS 5 haywire firepower seems really potent especially with the way my local metagame is developing with lots more super heavies appearing (my group now has access to nine knights, four of which are mine for example).

I am currently working on a Knight Atrapos which is another awesome forge world model which will be serving as the commander of the knight household I am building up, another really potent option for the battle as well as being another awesome looking sculpt by those oh so talented forge world guys. I will put up some photo's of it when it is a little more progressed, I am trying out some pre-shading techniques which I think are working really well but it is not yet quite far enough along to justify taking and posting pictures.
